Replacing drive with defect sectors - controller question

edited February 2013 in DrivePool
Hi,

my pool consists of four drives at a 4x SATA Digitus MARVELL 88SX7042 controller. One of that has defect sectors and needs to be replaced. The pool have neryl no left free space. What is the correct way to replace it without destroying my pool? Is it important that the drives are connected to the same controller?

My idea is to follow these steps:
  1. connect 5th drive to internal SATA-controller
  2. make the 5th drive part of the pool
  3. remove defect drive from pool with the interface
  4. connect 5th drive to the digitus controller

does drivepool get this managed?

regards

ulli
