Ouch. Sorry about that. Definitely something we'll look into before going out of beta.

The latest build as of today, build 2351 makes some changes to prevent Direct I/O from badly interacting with drivers, which may remedy your situation.

I'll keep a lookout for this in the future.
  • I just installed beta 2405 on my Acer H340 WHS. It installed, but I could never configure it. It stayed on the screen with the message about contacting the running service. I left it there for over an hour with no progress. I have uninstalled the add-in.

    parrottm,

There have been a number of connection related fixes in the latest builds. The latest build as of now is 2439, and it has an internationalization related fix that was preventing the service from connecting.

If you continue to have problems, please use the form at stablebit.com/contact to open a case and I'll be happy to assist you.

    Regards,
    Alex
  • Hi, I installed Stablebit about a week ago and have since updated to the latest build as they become available.  It would be nice if the builds came with release notes so I can see what changes were made.  Not really necessary with a product in beta I guess, but it would be nice to see what changes were made in the more recent version.
  • Covecube
All the recent builds mostly contain fixes to issues that are being reported either automatically, or using the contact page.

Every build's changes are noted here:

(This is linked from the downloads page)

I know it would be nicer to have this right in the upgrade wizard. Maybe next release :)
  • Can you clarify if this software runs over v1 of WHS or Vail? According Microsoft, No disk maintenance tool should be used that access the disks at surface level on Vail beta with DE, but I guess now they've killed DE and using standard disk format this will not be a problem anymore.

Really like this add-in installed on my HP x510.
Main problem: Twice when I have tried to update to the latest beta from within the add-in, I am not able to sign in again to the WHS Console without a hard restart.
    Thanks.

    mcakins,

This is for WHS v1. All operations are always in read-only. StableBit Scanner never writes to your disk in raw mode.

    AlanS,

    I'm looking into this.
