NFS support

edited January 2012 in DrivePool
Hello All
New here have not had much time to visit. Question:
Does Stablebit Drive pool support the NFS file system. And the reason I ask is I have tried about 6 other version of drive pooling software and none have NFS support. The reason for this support is there are about a hand full of high end media streaming devices out there that support NFS and perfer custumer to use this protocol. because of the speed at which it send the coding down the pipe. I have alot of cleients that wish to convert to a more power full server like 2008 r2 and WHS 2011. But will not upgrade until this NFS is supported in the software. Would there be any updates to support this in the very near future ?.
Any input on this subject would be gratefully appreciated.  Thank you for letting me bend your ears on this subject.

Despite the name, NFS is not a physical filesystem (i.e. used to store and manage files on physical storage devices), it is a protocol used to access files over a network. In principle it should be independent of the physical filesystem, so it should work with Drivepool pools as well as native NTFS or FAT volumes. As far as I can tell (not having any NFS clients), you can enable NFS on WHS 2011 by following these instructions:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753302%28WS.10%29.aspx

Have you tried this? Did you get any errors or problems?
  • Yes I m aware that it is a protocol and have been using it for the last 30 years with unix.SCO and linux boxs attached
to windows server 2008 R2 but my question is does stableBIt support the option and when stablebit is running and you right click on the pool it does not allow NFS does not show the option even though the NFS option is  installed on the OS.Once you right click on a directory it shows on the none pooled drives but does not show on the pooled drive . So again is this something that will be added in the near future?.
