  • Thanks. I've seen a few of people report access denied errors on a folder move. I don't know, this is a tricky one. I guess we can force close any open handles to the files we're moving? That's kind of rude to other applications / users but it would…
  • Yes. That will be added once all the critical issues with M3 are settled. I didn't want to introduce too much new code without testing it more widely. Adding the backup folder to the pool would have introduced too many variables for one release. In …
  • I've replied to your support request. It would be great if I could take a look at this first hand. Just reply in the support case and we can set up a time for tomorrow, if it's ok with you.
  • Steve, I've installed the same version of metabrowser on my WHS 2011 test machine and I can't get it to detect changes even on a non-pooled folder, can you confirm this? It seems to only pick up deletes and not new files. As for the other problem of…
  • Yeah, those permissions are set properly but still cannot access any shares.... Lets do remote access support. Can you open a case @ http://stablebit.com/contact
  • I checked share permission and those look like to be fine. Alex could you provide instructions of how to properly setup permissions? Can't recall the error message exactly,  will post exact screen shot by the end of today. It looks like to be permis…
  • One of the main features of DrivePool, is that it's simple and almost looks like it could be a native part of the OS. Noted. That's not by accident
  • Hi Alex, Installed M3 (clean install) and played around with it, moving files around, removing a drive, trying to break it  etc. all that looks pretty solid to me, great work! I did run into problems however and have some remarks: 1. It's not to ver…
  • Sounds like some WHS installer funkiness. Anyone else getting this?
in BETA M3 Comment by Alex July 2011
  • Check the permissions on the folders to make sure they got migrated properly. If not, just reset them. What's the error exactly?
  • Can you verify that the folders are visible under C:\ServerPool\ServerFolders? Based on your description, they should be. Perhaps WHS didn't register the folders properly, try to restart the StableBit DrivePool service on the server. This should for…
  • C:\ServerPool\ServerFolders should not be deleted. It's there for WHS compatibility, not for M2. Both C:\ServerPool\ServerFolders and C:\ServerPool\ServerFolders.Mount should exist and they will be recreated automatically if missing. Some people hav…
  • What used to be C:\ServerPool\ServerFolders in M2 is now C:\ServerPool\ServerFolders.Mount in M3. C:\ServerPool\ServerFolders is there for compatibility. @mqualizza, I've replied to your support request. Don't delete anything just yet.
  • Don't see a reason to. Perhaps DE didn't like being suspended? I don't thing DrivePool has a problem being put into sleep mode.
  • I will look into this tomorrow.
  • It's out! It was a ton of work. I really appreciate all the kind sentiments and the encouragement that I've received from all the beta testers. I hope we can make this live up to people's expectations. This is not the end, but just a beginning of a …
  • Around $20 - $30 USD. Similar price as the Scanner. The M4 changes might be rolled into a separate "Pro" version depending on the final performance numbers.
  • Hi, Alex - it's been awhile! I have two questions: 1 - M3 is close, right?  2 - when removing a drive from the pool, do the shares remain available?   I remember a big pain with WHS v1 was that if you wanted to remove a drive, the whole server was e…
  • Alex, do you think you expose a feature to have an ability to scan entire pool/folder/file for consistency upon user request? This might be a good feature to keep your data safe. Otherwise your hdd can go bad, and your data can get corrupted without…
  • From the beginning, DrivePool was engineered to support a performance layer. This means that we can approach that 110 MB/s. It's not there now, but theoretically no old code has to be rewritten (perhaps maybe a bit), only new code has to be written …
  • Alex, I got another question. Lets say I shutdown/restart the system. How does DrivePool determine healthy status of my pool? I mean by the time DrivePool was turned off, some of duplicated files could get deleted/damaged?Will DrivePool try to resca…
  • Yes and yes, you will be able to do both of those things in a few days when BETA M3 is released.
  • P.S. Is that a screenshot from youtube or google datacenter using DrivePool? Yes, Google called us and they want to make a backup of the Internet... Just in case
  • Yeah, actually that was my initial question. I'd like to get more familiar about those tasks that DrivePool performs. Are you planning to document it and have it available to public?  P.S. Is that a screenshot from youtube or google datacenter using…
  • Ok, I had to post this: Working out the kinks
  • I'll look into this after BETA M3 is out. The list presentation needs to be tweaked to fit your use case.
  • awesome screenshot, since we in July now any updates on beta/release date? DrivePool BETA M3 got a little behind schedule, not by much, but enough to divert more resources that way. I'm hoping we can get a working BETA by the beginning of August an…

  • you can very easily reproduce this issue in house if you download the trail version of nod32. That might be a lot easier to work with than a crash dump. That way you could verify your fix too. Thanks, will try it.
  • I've uploaded the crash dump (well I've tried to). The file uploaded but the script on the page never finished saying uploading. Can you check to see if you got it, if not I'll try one more time. Dump looks good, thanks for the upload. Sorry abou…
  • Hi Alex, Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to address such a screw up as MS dropping the DE. In reality it looks like your product will be superior so that is awesome and you turned it into a business opperunity too boot ..Kudos to y…
