  • Thanks Shane.  I've been having drives fail on me left and right since Xmas, so you never know when I'm going to need this.  At least I only have about 2TB of files.
  • So If I'm understanding this correctly, we can't have anything assigned to one of the default shares, so we're moving the entire contents of the pooled shares to temp folders.  These would be outside the WHS share system, but since they are still on…
  • Ok, time for me to run away with my tail between my legs and defer to the experts.  Luckily that didn't happen to me when a drive failed.
  • Physically remove the drive and then remove it from DP.  If there are any unduplicated files on the drive, you'll need to try to recover them or they're gone.  To recover the files, don't just plug the drive back in (leaving out the shutdown reboot …
  • If DP thinks that all is good, you won't see that re-balance option.  Mine was 100% and it was accurate, just not a reflection of the "balance".
  • I just deleted a bunch of the files from the pool, and then restored them from backup.  DP did much better the second time around.  Just wish I didn't have to do that. Of course on top of that, the drive had to disappear from the system while I was …
  • My dashboard has always been slow, and DP didn't make it any worse.  It's like I'm back to WHSv1 again.  That one's console was almost unusable until I upgraded the processor, and WHS2011, has slowed things down again.  Not quite as bad, but slow.  …
  • It's probably trying to transfer files off of the drive.  Assuming you have duplication turned on, just shut down, unplug the drive and then do the remove after you reboot.  Endorsed by Alex, and a lot faster.
  • I'm running both along with Diskeeper, LightsOut, and Remote Launcher, all up to date, with no problems.  You're not the first to say you're having issues though.
  • I notice that you are both using mymovies, so there is something in common.  I'm using both DP and the scanner, but not the mymovies (yet).  No problem.  Maybe I'll try install mymovies and see if anything changes.
  • I guess it's working now, but I'll plus 1 blaming the card.  I had a sata multiplier card in my old server that did the same thing.  I had to leave the drives unplugged, and boot the machine (the primary was IDE) and then plug in the multiplier card…
  • Exactly.  I'm happy to pay the full amount to keep him going, but other's may not be, so this is to help reduce potential complaints to Alex.
  • as a matter of fact, once I saw that the server didn't "notice" that drive pool was gone I decided to wait to see if I hear anything.  That way Alex can use me as a guinea pig if he needs to.  I want to wait for WD to replace the drive so I can do e…
  • yep, there officially still problems.  ended with 50% status saying it couldn't find space for files, even though it's all there.  I'll post up the logs, and just re-format the pool drives and start over.  At least I have a backup! Does that mean th…
  • Ok, I know I'm stupid but wow.  I'm reading "programdata" and thinking "programfiles".  I found the service folder right where it's supposed to be with everything else.  I'll submit it.
  • I installed the latest beta, and nothing changed.  Guess the only thing I can do is remove drivepool, and try to re-install it.  And it was working so well too.
  • that's the kind of thing I was looking for!  Unfortunately, the pool is now static at 99.2% and won't let me do any more balancing.  I'll leave the server up for a couple days (no standby) to give it a chance to do something on it's own.  Addendum. …
  • Thanks for the help.  There is nothing accessing the server, and the only thing I could think of that might still get in the way is Disk Keeper.  I disabled that on all of the pooled drives, and re-booted the server, but it's still having trouble.  …
