XBMC "Error 2: share not available" - possible solution

I'm using XMBC on Linux and getting an error message "Error 2: share not available".

After much experimentation and reading through these forums, I've found that switching off Fast Directory Listing has solved the problem (at least for the moment).

Hope this helps someone else out.

Also hope this is fixed in M4 as it takes ages to browse very full shares with this switched off!

Thanks for this. I got a jail broken AT2 running XBMC as a "from me, to me" presi @ crimbo and have been battling with "error 2" since. Following your post a quick click and I'm past that to the next steps of understanding XBMC

The option is in the StableBit DrivePool tab on the WHS dashboard, "DrivePool Settings".

I upgraded to M4 last night. The upgrade was smooth save the fact I had to redo my drivepool shares. After seeing this post I have just checked my XBMC ATV2 and have the same problem. I had it on M3 but the fast directory option fixed that. Cannot see that in M4 dashboard.

I can confirm I am also getting a lot of missed media files using M4 I can also confirm that the fast directory is causing it in m3 you could switch it off so it was not a problem but M4 does not have that option I have a total of about 600 files not getting listed using M4 using AcRyan media streamer tbh the fast directory listening only ever caused me problems

Have a look at this post and try build 5410. That fixed the Error 2 for me :-)

I am on the latest build - 5401 m4  and this still happens.
