Thank you,

Drive removal error

edited January 2012 in DrivePool
I have one of my WD 2 GB drives go bad. I started to remove the drive and after about 12 hours it was finally almost at the end of the process and then I get the following error.

ERROR REMOVING DRIVE

Error removing drive from pool
The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable

I do have duplication on. Running the latest version of Drivepool

Now I have no idea where my files stand. The drive still shows as part of the drive pool but has been disconnected. I still get warning errors on a few drives because the pool has filled the drive down to a very little free space (255k) and I constantly getting warnings from WHS 2011 about it.

  • If you really have duplication turned on for all the shares on that disk then removing the drive should only mean that DP needs to duplicate the files to other drives instead. The drive you are removing should in theory not need being read (except perhaps double-checking that all the files indeed are duplicated elsewhere).

I suggest sending an email to Alex via support and ask him. Go here: http://stablebit.com/contact and fill in the form.
  • Thanks Paaland. I figured that is how it worked but why do I get that error. I will ask Alex
