Drive Pool Data Persistence and Availability after Uninstall

edited March 2012 in DrivePool
Hi,
I am slightly confused by instructions on the site should you want to uninstall the plugin, it arises from the following quote.
"If you choose to uninstall, you will need to move your data out of the pool prior to removing the add-in."

Does this mean that data is unrecoverable from the pool if you remove the plugin, i.e. the hidden pool folders are deleted along with data still within?

Any clarification would be helpful, thanks!

  • Your files (and the folder structure they are contained in) are not deleted and are recoverable after uninstall, you can find them within the PoolPart.* folder in the root of each drive that was added to the pool.

However, firstly they are spread more or less randomly across all the drives you added to the pool. Secondly, any folders that were duplicated will appear on two drives. Bottom line is, if you have more than one drive in the pool it's easier to move the folders out of the pool first before uninstalling as then you will know exactly where they are.
  • Ok, Thanks for the info. I am not planning on uninstalling:) Just checking that there are no loopholes.
