Thank you,

What is the mximum size HD that drive pool can recognize to add to the pool.

edited April 2012 in DrivePool

Never mind I had not initialized the Drive in WHS 2011 - my bad. This  problem solved.

I'm starting a new server build. I had hoped that WHS2011 could be installed on a 3TB drive - not for me. So I put it on a 2TB drive.

I later installed the 3TB HD but didn't add it to WHS2011 since I didn't want it to create 2 partitions.

When I added Drivepool it showed the correct size drive (2.73TB) but showed it could not add the drive.

If your 2 TB drive is a green drive, then you shouldnt be installing an OS on it nor should you be installing it on a 3TB green drive. They arent really made for that. DP shouldnt have any trouble adding the 3 TB to the pool. Make sure the drive in Drive Management was initialized as a GPT partition and not MBR. The only limitation for the 3 TB drive is the fact that WHS backup can only backup 2TB maximum. 3TB drives can only be utilized in GPT and since WHS formats drives to MBR, there isnt a way to using it as an OS drive. 2TB is possible but if its green drive, its not worth it since its slow.
