Thank you,

Remove Hard Drives from Server Backup so that they can be added to the Drive Pool

edited May 2012 in DrivePool

I don't see any way to do this from withing SBDP, and it appears the only method to free the drives up would be to designate ANOTHER drive or drives for server backup via WHS 2011.

Am I missing something?  Is there another way to simply REMOVE the drives from Server Backup designation without going through the Server Backup wizard and designating another drive?

Thanks.

To disable server backups and free the backup drive(s) for the pool:

From the server Desktop, open Dashboard, click Computers and Backup, click your server's name, click Customize Backup for the server, click Next, click Disable Server Backup, click Disable, click Close.

From the server Desktop, open Explorer, either format the backup drive(s) or delete the backup folder WHS created on each. Reboot.

Drive(s) are now free to be added to the pool.

    Thanks for the reply.

For some reason, I don't remember seeing the "Disable Server BackuP" option for these drives.

Anyway, I just simply removed the existing backups on those drives, and I was able to add them to the pool.
