Thank you,

What are the best practices for moving Large amounts of data to the drive pool?

edited September 2012 in DrivePool
I have a large amount of data I need to move from the root of Drive F: (F: is part of the pool) to the drive pool.  Moving the files to the pool drive (H:) is very slow and will take days to move all my data.  Can I move the folder directly to the PoolPart(GuiD) on drive F: from the root of F:?
Will this then be later balanced by DP?
Is there a better way to accomplish this?

  • It is not the ideal way, but in my experience it will work. DrivePool will eventually detect that the files in the PoolPart are not duplicated and will start to duplicate the files. How fast it will detect this I don't know. But after the move operation you should perform a "check for duplication consistency" (found as a command on the pool drive in the dashboard).
  • I'd recommend using something like Tera Copy as well, that will provide CRC checking and file verification upon completion of move.
