Drive Pool Latest Beta Crash... Parity in the future?

Shortly after installing the latest drive pool v2 beta from latest stable, one of my drives stopped working in windows and started deleting orphan files upon reboot... which I had to stop and try and recover any files I could before they would be wiped by chkdsk.. Needless to say this was hard since this was a full 2tb drive...

I would like to know if a parity option could be offered were the user can setup a drive that will be used for parity only (duplication doesn't seem practical for a large media collection)... Many of my drives are full and to start a raid 5 now would be impossible... plus I don't see the point of running drive pool with a raid array seems pointless except for parity...

Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome! I'm looking for some kind of file recovery setup that isn't a 1:1 copy but a parity system (configurable size would be great)... I have over 15tb in my drive pool...

    Parity doesn't currently appear on the roadmap for DrivePool (unless it's one of those "major new pooling capabilities" Alex wants for 2.0), but if enough people use the Contact form to suggest it maybe we'll get a comment. :)

    In the meantime, if you don't mind some extra setup, some folks have been using the parity capability of FlexRaid to protect their DrivePool pool for a while now.


    (FlexRaid offers pooling as well, but at least in this forum the opinion seems to be to use DP for pooling and just use FR for the parity protection)
