Thank you,

Drivepool creation.

edited March 2011 in DrivePool
Firstly i would like to say the integration into WHS 2011, looks really good.
I have just succesfully created a drive pool from 2 drives on my server. The add in shows the pooled drives with a combined storage of 1.31TB which is also correct. However when i log into WHS, windows explorer stills shows them as separate drives with the original drive letters. Is this to be expected at this beta release stage? Again this is understandable, but i just wanted to check that i hadnt missed anything!

Yes, this is expected behavior. The current beta uses a mounted volume approach instead of occupying a drive letter for the pool.

    Regards,
  • Ok Thanx. Will read up.

    Hello
just installed it, and it's working. But, what I don't understand: The "Server Folders and Hard Drive" tab shows my server folders (Pictures, Music, Documents and so on). In the "StableBit DrivePool" tab these folders all appear as "Non-pooled Shares", and "These folders are stored outside of the DrivePool". I can add a new folder on the DrivePool, but I cannot move these system folders to the DrivePool. So, how can I move the DOCUMENTS folder onto the DrivePool?

You cannot move the documents folder into the DrivePool with the current build.

This functionality will be added later. This early build is all about testing the basic I/O to make sure that there are no bugs regarding saving your data.

The only thing you can do with this build is open up both folders in explorer and move/copy your files manually. However, I do not recommend you put anything of real value onto the pool at this stage because of the potential of data integrity issues that have not yet been found / fixed.

Other things that are missing are:
    • Remote web access to pooled folders.
    • Media streaming from the pool.
These will be added at later stage when the I/O subsystem is solid.
