  • Yes it was different hardware. This is the nice thing of DrivePool. Take all your data drives to another server after installing DrivePool and it will rebuild the pool on the new server without losing any data.
  • Hi Shane, thanks for your help. After taking a closer look, I don't see Guest or Everyone. What I see is 2 users which are Administrators which is the Owner and Administrator with read write permissions. But going to the Security tab, I can see Ever…
  • Yes, this is how I did it. And everyone have access even if they don't have permission to.
  • Unless/until serial numbers can be displayed by DrivePool, I use the method of setting the volume label of each drive to be the same as its serial number. Model and serial numbers can be displayed by DrivePool already. I just discovered that last we…
  • I also go with the sticker method to physically identify the drives. I suggest there should be a place in drivepool to also identify the drives by its model and serial, instead of just drives letter.
  • Storage spaces needs to be simplified for the user. No way to remove a drive unless breaking the pool. Since I use my server to store my recorded TV, I have found that there is nothing for archiving TV like WHS do. WSE 2012 have a long way to go bef…
  • I used Storage Spaces and copied data to it. That was the goal of trying WSE 2012, Storage Spaces and performance over WHS 2011 and DP. If I look inside all HDD's on WSE 2012, I only see a folder named "ServerFolders", which is the same name showing…
  • I updated to beta 5888 but didn't have any issue with the backups being in the pool. What I experienced is decrease performance in transfer speeds. In previous builds, I don't recall having transfer speed issues. I was even surprised with the transf…
  • It all depends on your setup. I have my server (H341) with 4 HDD and another enclosure with 2 HDD plugged into e-sata port of the server. I have tried to include all the drives into the pool. The result was not good at all. Streaming stutter and sud…
  • I finished copying all the data back to WHS 2011. I had good speed at 40-60 Mb/s. I then turned on duplication on few folders. Trying to copy a file at speed 3-5 Mbps which is not that good, even today after all is balanced and duplicate. Pool's hea…
  • Well, thanks for all advises you gave me. It shed more light on how to proceed with DrivePool. Here is how I managed to use DrivePool:Drive 0: - C: system diskDrive 0: -  part of poolE: represents the pooled drivesDrive 1, 2, 3, 4, 5: part of poolAl…
  • The old drive has failed. In this case, any non-duplicated data will be lost, you will need to restore from backup. Duplicated folders should be fine - when you reinstall (as per above but without attaching the failed drive), DrivePool will recogni…
  • Just installed M4 and all went fine. I only have 2 drives in the pool for testing purposes and 5 out. Migration went well, took about 3-4 minutes to complete all tasks. Really like the integration with WHS2011. It makes sense to me. One thing I noti…
  • Klode, thanks for telling to check the setup. It turned out that I mistakenly set 100MBps limit on my network card on the storage. It was the time when i wanted to set the link speed and duplex to "1GBps Full Duplex" but most probably did a mistake …
  • Currently I'm getting 10-12 MB/s write and read performance on a wired Gigabit network. I just tested my network speed when copying 6GB of data to a non-pool drive and I'm getting between 45-70 MB/s. If I copy to a pooled drive, I get 24-27 MB/s ove…
  • That is a great overall! I like the deeper integration with the dashboard. I think it will be less confusing for people. Can't wait to try it out with the new UI. Keep up the good work!Claude
  • So, I proceed with reinstalling WHS 2011 and all went well. I finished copying all data back. Then, I installed DrivePool 4074. I did not move any of the default shares, but created few more shares and copied some data into them from the default sha…
  • Hi, after doing some more testing it seems DrivePool have only problems with the shares created by the user. Default shares like Documents, Music, Pictures, Recorded TV and Videos have no problems being moved by DrivePool into the pool. I did not tr…
  • Hi Alex, DrTone,@DrTone, I saw the thread you're pointing me to. It is not recommended by Alex to increase the delay to more than 60 seconds. I don't know what it is set now, I didn't look into the config file.@Alex, My first attempt to setup DriveP…
  • Unfortunately, I tried to move 2 folders to the pool and they were just deleted by Stablebit. The error message I get is:Error moving folderCannot move folderCannot retreive WHS foldersI have a copy of the log file stating the 2 folders were deleted…
  • OK, I'm just about finishing setting up my WHS 2011 again and will install DrivePool, merge empty folders and copy data from the old server. Thanks for the advice,Claude
