Yes it was different hardware. This is the nice thing of DrivePool. Take all your data drives to another server after installing DrivePool and it will rebuild the pool on the new server without losing any data.

I also go with the sticker method to physically identify the drives. I suggest there should be a place in drivepool to also identify the drives by its model and serial, instead of just drives letter.
