  • To run a consistency check on your pool for WHS2011: go to the "Pool" tab of the Dashboard's "Server Folders and Hard Drives" section, select your pool drive, choose "Check duplication consistency" from the task list on the right.
  • That's not by design. Can you run a duplication consistency check?
  • The DPCU does support 1.3, while 2.0 comes with its own dpcmd.exe built in.
  • Hmm. Please contact Stablebit via http://stablebit.com/contact to followup? There's also been two Scanner updates since Jan 19th, did either of them help?
  • Hmm. I don't know whether the DPCU supports post-1.2 versions. I'll ask Alex.
  • Hi Paaland. Yes, they are safe; no, they are not duplicated - unless you (1) share them, turn on duplication, unshare them (they remain duplicated), or (2) use the DrivePool Command Utility to turn on their duplication. See http://wiki.covecube.com/…
  • Yes, the PoolPart folders on your physical drives are the real location. I would suggest excluding those folders from Nod's scans since it's already checking the files via your pool.
  • Hi dieter, DrivePool support for LightsOut by way of marker files is planned and "will almost certainly be in the next 1.3 BETA build".
  • A2) Currently the duplication will start only when the server is on at the scheduled time. The ability to catch up on missed tasks might appear in a future build. A3) "This will almost certainly be in the next 1.3 BETA build. The plan is to have Dri…
  • I've sent Alex a query.
  • You can see the list of sins remembered - ahem, bugfixes and features - ordered by version at stablebit.com/DrivePool/ChangeLog?Platform=whs2 My own skim suggests there are no likely "showstoppers" for your version (except, perhaps, during drive re…
  • Hi montejw360. From memory of when this issue first came up way back, there are two reasons for measuring pool capacity as the total available space of the drives that make up the pool, rather than on the amount of free space available if all folder…
  • Hi Silversoon, A1) The files are stored in a hidden PoolPart.guidstring folder on the drive. A2) When real-time duplication is turned off, duplication takes place at night. The time can changed by following the appropriate instructions at http://wik…
  • Hi Scarab. The pool drive is virtual and does not need to be defragmented as it does not actually "contain" the files it aggregates. If PerfectDisk offers the pool drive as a candidate, exclude it. The physical drives that make up the pool may still…
  • Hi puulima, nope, none of those are dumb questions. A1) you need to have at least one drive in the pool before you can place content (files, folders) into the pool. If your install of DrivePool already has a physical drive assigned, you're good to …
  • If my (working) pool is anything to go by, the pool's shared folders should be ticked but the pool drive itself not ticked. I would suggest trying this and then going to Indexing Options, Advanced section and choose to Rebuild (when I did this mysel…
  • Hi Nyarly, please see my response to your other post in http://forum.covecube.com/discussion/832/on-drivepool-tab-folders-view-all-folders-on-the-pool-appear-as-empty-but-they-are-not#Item_6 If the steps provided don't resolve your problem, I'd try …
  • Hi, don't add the physical drives that form the pool; add only the folders within the pool drive that you want indexed (normally, this will be all of your shared folders and should occur by default). When you first index your shared folders, it can …
  • Balancing plug-ins can be downloaded at http://stablebit.com/DrivePool/Plugins To configure plug-ins that are already installed, from the Dashboard go to StableBit DrivePool, Disks, scroll down if necessary and click Balancing.
  • Hmm. If you're at all worried that the drive might imminently die, and you don't have backups you can restore of the missing pool files, then my suggested priority would be "get data first, check drive second". In such a case, I'd put it in the othe…
  • It's possible DrivePool could be having trouble migrating files off the damaged P drive. Can you remove (via the slower migrate option, NOT the quick remove) the P drive now, or does it still freeze or does DrivePool refuse due to the duplication pr…
  • Yes, through Drive Management. If you already have shares in the pool, you'll need to reboot and then run the Restore DrivePool Shares option afterward.
  • Pool condition of 50% means there are unduplicated files that should be duplicated (or some other problem involving duplication). Try to run a consistency check on your pool: go to the "Pool" tab of the Dashboard's "Server Folders and Hard Drives" s…
  • To change DrivePool/Scanner evacuation protocol: from Dashboard, go to StableBit DrivePool, go to Disks (where you see Folders and Disks, click Disks), go to Balancing (beneath list of disks, may need to scroll), go to Balancers, go to StableBit Sca…
  • I've also submitted this thread to Alex. DrivePool is supposed to "fail safely" by design; turning off duplication should NOT itself cause file loss. It's possible your files may still be there, but inaccessible via the pool; it might be a good idea…
  • No, that's not good. Please check that all of your drives that are supposed to be in the pool are working properly? (although even if they went missing from the pool, normally the pool changes to read-only if that happens)
  • I see that Lights Out can use the presence/absence of a particular file; perhaps you could submit a feature request to StableBit to have a specially-named empty marker file in c:\programdata\stablebitdrivepool that is created at the start of a dupli…
  • If you know that duplication will occur between two specific times, you can set LightsOut to respect that time period. If you know that duplication will begin at a specific time, but not for how long, set LightsOut to respect whatever time period yo…
  • Hi Ron, I would suggest submitting the crash dump to Stablebit. You can find instructions on obtaining the dump, and the submission tool for it, both here: http://www.stablebit.com/Contact/Lookup/63607 (yes, it mentions DrivePool, but be sure to put…
  • Is it only the one particular folder that is affected? Is it all deleted photos or only some of them? (saw the "random" bit)If you re-delete the problem photos, does the deletion stick the second time around (or is that random too)? Are the photos fro…
