  • I use Eset NOD32 with success, both on the server and my laptop. Very happy with it.
  • I have two WD greens (1 TB and 2 TB) and two reds (both 2 TB). They are all located in the same hot-swap cabinet with an active fan. The 1TB green run at 33C, the 2TB green run at 37C. The two reds are both running at 30C. The "hot" green disk is th…
  • Realtime just means that when ever you write to the duplicated folder it is written to the other folder location (one of your other disks) at the same time. This ensures you get a good copy straight away. Your disks will still standby after xx minut…
  • @dlangLooks like Alex has taken your request into the beta already. From the lates changelog at http://stablebit.com/DrivePool/ChangeLog?Platform=whs2 "Added a new advanced option 'DrivePool_VerifyAfterCopy'. This will perform a SHA1 verification af…
  • Hm.  I've got 6 HDDs in my pool ranging from 500GB to 2TB in size. Lots of free space on all disks so balancing should not be a problem. But I did a "reset everything to defaults" under the balancing settings in DP and suddenly the pool condition ju…
  • Not for me. Neither remeasure or check duplication consitency does help.
  • I have checked the logs and there is nothing there. I've done a rebalance and a "check duplication consistence" neither returns any errors. Not in the UI and not in the logs. And still pool is at 99.9%. Perhaps it's a rounding error
  • I never found out why, and I'm still at 99.9%. I annoys me that I cannot figure out what/which files are not being duplicated properly.
  • Thank you for clearing that up.
  • I'm running 1.3.7336. Luckily I managed to boot in Safe Mode and remove the links. Now there server is stable again. The "bluescreen error" was in ntfs.sys
  • If you have no issues then stick with the 1.2 release version. If any bugs are found Alex will update the release, so you dont ever have to use the betas. If you dont mind risking your data, or if you really need the features of 1.3 then use the b…
  • Yes please add support for non WHS OS'es as fast as possible. Especially Server 2012 Essentials / Storage Essentials. WHS 2011 is a platform that is quickly dying. I'd really like to upgrade, but I cannot upgrade until DrivePool support is there
  • To contact Alex use this form: http://stablebit.com/contact
  • There was an issue long ago. But I believe the released version as well as the 1.2 betas all support having the backup database in the pool. But you should reboot your server after moving the Client backup folder just to make sure everything is rese…
  • I use five Devolo adapters myself. Some AV200 and some AV500. Have you run the dLan Copilot software? In addition to letting you firmware-upgrade all your units you can check the transfer speed to and from each of your devices. Make sure you click o…
  • This has been discussed several times, try using search to catch up. I tend not to have the backups in the pool and I'll explain why. Having a share in the pool means that the files in that share is potentially spread access all your drives. This st…
  • @bobberGman You cannot simply insert the WHS 1 drives into the WHS 2011 and all is well. WHS 1 juses some NTFS "tricks" to create the pool. While DrivePool (DP) uses a hidden folder called PoolPart.XXXXXX... It's been a long time since i used WHS 1 …
  • Yes DP will detect that the drive is part of the pool and should automatically add it. This is the same mechanism that occurs if you have to resintall the WHS OS for some reason. As soon as DP is installed and you reboot the drives will be added to …
  • It is not the ideal way, but in my experience it will work. DrivePool will eventually detect that the files in the PoolPart are not duplicated and will start to duplicate the files. How fast it will detect this I don't know. But after the move opera…
  • @kiddeI too have a delay of about 2-4 minutes after a boot that my server is not accessible via network or RDP. It starts responding to ping straight away and even SSH. But SMB (network file access) and RDP are very slow to start. If it has anything…
  • After letting it balance a second time over night pool condition is again 100%.
  • It does complain that it cannot open some files (pagefile, SQL server database and other files that I know is in use), but not the boot sector of the disks, they are scanned fine.
  • I just use the standard SATA ports on my motherboard. It's got 6 of them and all are in use. I get about 65 MB/s write speed to the pool. And about 75 MB/s read speed.
  • See this discussion:  http://forum.covecube.com/discussion/630/balancing-the-pool DrivePool will start using the new drive when the need arise. Try adding some large files to the pool and it should start using the new drive when the free space on th…
  • Updating timestamp on directories have a small performance hit, it is therefor disabled by default. You need to set 'CoveFs_SynchronizeDirectoryTimes' to true in the config file and restart the service/reboot the server. See http://wiki.covecube.com…
  • @dbailey75: I know I came across a used rack-server with a quad core CPU, lots of ram and 6 TB disk that I managed to purchase very cheap. It even came with a UPS. As I had an old HP MediaSmart running WHS1 I was already sold on WHS so I installed …
  • I'm running NOD32 (version 5.2.9.1) and DP 1.0.6234. I do get some bsods. Perhaps once a month, but I cannot say if it's NOD, DP or something else entirely since I'm running a whole lot of stuff on my server (including web sites, ssh, minecraft serv…
  • Note that "balancing the pool" does not mean: Make sure the data is equally distributed on all my drives. It means: Make sure that all my duplicated folders are stored on at least two separate physical drives (but only have two copies of any single …
  • Your idea seems good when reading or writing a whole file. But remember that you can read/write to any part of a file, and a file can be very large. If I write 2MB of data to a 2GB file you'd have to scan through the whole file in order to calculate…
